Default Vista and Internet Explorer Problems

Dear all,

I've been reading the Threads here and on other Forums with regards to
the IE issue of it stopping working on Vista.

I've tried all the suggestions I have found to date (including
uninstalling OneNote, repairing registry issues etc etc) and I still
can't get the **** thing to work. Every time it loads I get the message
saying Internet Explorer has stopped working.

I normally use Firefox, but have to be able to test websites in IE so
must get it working.

Any new ideas anyone? It's driving me crazy now!

Chris

(p.s. . . . I should add that I absolutely HATE Vista . . . forced to
update when bought a new PC and it's been the worse decision I've made
so far. If I didn't know XP was being phased out I would have stuck to
XP!)

Have you tried right clicking the IE shortcut in the Start Menu or Desktop,
and then selecting 'Start Without Addons'?

If it runs okay like that, you can try going into Internet Properties, by
right clicking the icon again and selecting Properties. Then go to the
Programs tab, and press the Manage Add-Ons button. Disable one add-on at a
time, until you find the culprit.

Mick . . . thanks for the help!

SS: Thanks for trying . . . been there, done that, no joy . . .
reinstalled everything pretty much apart from wiping the HD and
starting from scratch! Am getting REALLY ****ed with Vista right now as
IE is 'embedded' within Vista and I can't just reinstall it.

Cheers

Chris

What are the specific fault details for that crash from the Problem Reports
and Solutions Center control panel?

So let's play a guessing game: which one of these is on your system:
wnpy_query.dll
aiicon.dll
asphat32.dll
dpfbview.dll
fouri_m3.ime
nview.dll
ophookse4.dll
qqiehelper01.dll
qqiehelper02.dll
?

I'd bet a donut that one of those is on your system. That information
should lead to the next step/questions here.

What are the file properties on that? What is the file version?

I would suspect that this file is directly related to your troubles.
