Default With Vista, Excel finds insufficient resources

I have 2GB RAM. Using Excel, when I try to open two workbooks of about 24MB
each, attempting to open the second work book causes a message that Excel
cannot complete the action with available resources. Windows Task Manager
shows the following for Physical Memory: Total 2037, Cached 1338, Free varies
from 16 to 40. Don't know what to do. Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.

Default RE: With Vista, Excel finds insufficient resources

Additional Info: If I open a second copy of Excel, the second workbook opens
fine in it. So I can open two copies of Excel, each with a 24MB workbook,
but I can't open two 24MB workbooks in one copy of Excel 2003!!!
