Default Vista, built in Webcam, software

I am new to this site so bare with me, I am trying to find software,
so that i can capture video-audio streaming and send that off in a e-
mail. I am finding that, Vista, my built in webcam, is a challenge to
finding this software. There seems to many choices if you add a
Webcam, my old webcam will not work for this.

Have a look here... personally I use the fully-featured Windows Media
Encoder, which is a free download, but might be too complicated for you just
now...

That's interesting, and a move forward from XP/WMM2.1 if true. Just checked
the help files for WMM2.6 and it's not clear if all USB2.0 cameras are
supported. (I doubt USB1.x is supported?). Any more info on this?

This was always the case.. on MM on xp too,

you could capture from any video device

MM does not care what type of connection it uses..(usb 1.1 or 2.0)

as long as the hardware is connected it will use it
at the speed the device normally works

I've asked about this in the WMM group and I've been told that WMM doesn't
allow this with webcam. I can't test at the moment, but Itend to trust my
established source on this...

This is from WMM2.6 help...

Q. Why am I unable to import video from my Web camera or analog video
source?
Import Video does not support importing video from a Web camera or analog
video source such as a VCR. To use video from your Web camera, you can use
the software that comes with the camera to record the video to your
computer.
