If you take into account the SPEED,
the non compatibility
the gliches
the bugs
the stupid interface
the flakeyness
the LIES about WOW!
the BLOAT
the system resources
the slow copy pasting
the IDIOT UAC
the Defender catch nothing
the fact that it secretly EATS UP YOUR HDD space
the DUMBED DOWN defragment with no visual feedback
the breaking of compatibility with older OS's restore points when dual
booting
the HUNDREDS of services and background dlls all loaded eating your cpu
cycles
the BAD FONTS AND COLORS
the STUPID WMP11 that cant play sh1t
the bad TOOLBARS of Windows Explorer that cannot be customized
the lack of an UP button
the hiding of menus to reduce clutter, but at the same time other elements
INCREASE clutter
the hard disk thrasing all the time
the horrible START MENU that unfolds upon itself
the SEARCH that does not work as it should
the stupid SPEECH to TEXT, where it uderstands totally incorrect stuff
the lack of proper themes (only classic and aero)
the slowness of GUI drawing in CLASSIC mode
the need of POWERFUL GPU just to get glass, where linux can do the same
effects with less powerfull GPU
the FORCING of this DREADED OS on new computers
the WMA and DRM
and many many many more
all these make Vista the WORSE OS microsoft has ever made, and if you add
all this up, its about 1000 times worse that XP.

It's as fast as XP on my system. Faster with the beta of SP1
> the non compatibility
Get updates from third-party vendors

None that I've noticed on my system

Only one yeatr old. XP was even worse at one year.
> the stupid interface
Looks a lot like XP to me.
> the flakeyness
Not on my system
> the LIES about WOW!
What lies?
> the BLOAT
It is bigger than XP but you get more.

Not a problem on my system

SP1 fixes this.
> the IDIOT UAC
You can trun it off if you don't like it.
> the Defender catch nothing
Same Defender as XP.
> the fact that it secretly EATS UP YOUR HDD space
It's no secret. The files are all there if you look for them.
> the DUMBED DOWN defragment with no visual feedback
You don't need visual feedback since it works without human intervention.
> the breaking of compatibility with older OS's restore points when dual

MS is guiding users to Vista and away from XP.
> the HUNDREDS of services and background dlls all loaded eating your cpu

Same as in XP.
> the BAD FONTS AND COLORS
Ever hear of customization?
> the STUPID WMP11 that cant play sh1t
It plays all my mp3s and wma files.
> the bad TOOLBARS of Windows Explorer that cannot be customized
I like 'em.
> the lack of an UP button
It's a whole new paradigm. The up button is superfluous.
> the hiding of menus to reduce clutter, but at the same time other elements

Which ones? Mine is no more or less cluttered than XP.
> the hard disk thrasing all the time
Probably indexing. You can turn it off.
> the horrible START MENU that unfolds upon itself
Use a classic start menu if you'd rather.
> the SEARCH that does not work as it should
It finds everthing I want to find and faster, too.
> the stupid SPEECH to TEXT, where it uderstands totally incorrect stuff
It's much better than the one in XP on my system.
> the lack of proper themes (only classic and aero)
You can get more themes if you want.
> the slowness of GUI drawing in CLASSIC mode
No problem on my system.

You can turn off Glass if you don't have sufficient hardware. Or you can
upgrade
your hardware to the 21st century.
> the FORCING of this DREADED OS on new computers
Can you still get new machines with Win 98 or ME?
> the WMA and DRM
Not a problem for me. I buy all my music, videos, etc.
> and many many many more

Vista isn't perfect but when Vista is as old as XP is now, it will be in
much better shape than XP.
Listen Joe, if you don't like it so much, the least you can do is give
proper reasons why. But instead you repeat pure hearsay that is repeated
by just about all who have not used it beyond looking over a friends
shoulder.
Do yourself a favour, and us too. Go out and buy Vista, use it for a
couple of days, then come back to us with praises and/or complaints when
you actually have something to praise or complain about!!!

You seem like a perfect candidate for Ubuntu. Talk to Alias, he can set you
up!

If it is still around... (remember ME? - you're right. No one does.)

You see, those are the kind of people we don't want around here. They can
be much more "productive" with Ubuntu. Regular people still can use MS for
their tasks!
