system restore vista not restoring

Help does anyone know why i can not get system restore to be successfull,no
matter which restore point i use i always get the error message that it did
not complete successfully, details= An unspecified error occurered during
system restore.
A couple of months ago i wiped my laptop and reloaded vista again because i
couldnt restore, i dont want to do this again can anyone help, have any
suggestions please.

The failure of System Restore could be
caused by a conflict with other software...
quite possibly a virus scanner. Best bet
would be to perform the System Restore
in Safe Mode.

Perform a System Restore in Safe Mode.
