About 2 to 3 months ago I let Windows Update update my computer.
Everything seemd to go fine, all the updates were installed correctly. I was
done with working on the computer, so I switched it off. But the next time
(one day later) I started up the computer, he did not start (not even in safe
mode). After attempting to start several times (about 10 times I guess) I
managed to get the computer working again. since then, my computer starts up
fine, except for one thing:
When the first startup-page appears on the screen, you see the logo and name
of the Microsoft Corporation and beneath that a bar filled withe green
blocks/little cubes that move from left to right (don't know what's the name
of that bar, but I hope you know what I mean).
Both logo and Microsoft name plus the bar were centrated in the middle of my
screen before the updates and troublesome startups (that are now solved).
Now, the logo, name and bar are transferred/dislocated a bit to the right
(not totally to the right side of my screen, but they appear to have moved a
bit to the right).
I do find that strange since it's location was first (and from the
beginning) in the center of my screen.
I have no idea how to solve this. Has anyone of you encountered this problem
before or does anyone know how to solve it????????

Yeah I know that that kind of adjustment is possible, but aren't those
controls not only helpful in relocating the screen you see AFTER startup?

Evidently your system uses different display resolutions as it goes thru the
boot and windows startup process. (a common situation)
Bios generally uses the lowest resoluton, and windows after the boot process
completes, the highest.
Here is where things get a bit messy--
Each resolution has different timing, and displays may or may not have
individual settings available for each resolution setting.
In the "old" analog display days, the method used was generally to stop the
boot process when the BIOS options were displayed, and use that screen and
resolution to set the display controls. This was usually a low resoluton,
such as 640x480. Later displays added an 800x600 resolution, and possibly a
means of adjusting it seperately. Some did not, and you had to compromize.
(And so forth)
More modern digital displays usually don't seem to exhibit much of a
problem. Usually there is a way to adjust the display controls for at least
one resolution, and using the video driver control panel in windows, a way
to optimize the resolution specifically used for windows.
Since the problem occurred with a windows "update" I would suspect that
there was a change in the video driver, and this caused your problem.

As Chuck posted in another response, the timing may have changed for
some reason. Another might be your monitor altered it's settings. Some
have limited memory for different modes and it may have 'lost' the
settings for that mode.
Many monitors have an auto-set or auto-configure or similar button.
While the offset bootup screen is showing, do an auto-set and see if the
monitor adjusts itself.
