Default Speech Recognition

Is there a way to use Speech Recognition without using the headphones? There
should be a way to hook up the computer to speakers so you can come into the
room and start talking to the computer?

Hook up an external microphone.

Check Control Panel>Problem Reports and Solutions
Click Check for new solutions
After reports are sent, click View problem history
Right click on the problem and select View problem details

This should give you a hint as to what is causing the problem
There is also a Microsoft developer who is very adept at interpreting
fault bucket numbers and who frequents these newsgroups. Post the
message, especially the fault bucket number here, and he may be
able to help you.

You can also look in Event Viewer for errors.

Richard, I'm guessing, is an automatic troll that simply repeats the
identical message at odd intervals.

Apparently we both missed it

You realize of course that there will turn out to be some perfectly
valid reason for the question and we'll both end up looking stupid

In response to the OP :-

Have you tried plugging a set of speakers into the computer?
