Default Sony Viao VGN-SZ61MN/B , reinstalled Vista after HDD died, now cam not working

I have a sony Viao VGN-SZ61MN/B PCG-6S4M notebook with VB, the HDD died,
replaced and reinstalled Business, downloaded Vista drivers and utilities
from Sony, everything seems to be installed and working, except for the
onboard camera, in Devices, it is showing as working, with the latest
drivers, but both the Sony's own camera utility or Skype is showing no video
signal, I reinstalled the camera drivers, also tried to 'update' it manually
but it states I already has the latest, is there some type of patch or
updates from Vista for teh magiceye to work correctly ? I guess this is an
interface problem between Vista and the camera software.

the vaio sony cameras that come with the laptop have many problems
probably due to the drivers for vista that sony provides

have you downloaded the latest drivers from the sony vaio site?

I know people who have had many problems with those laptop cameras
(only in vista though.. lol so it might be yet another vista problem)

Yes, latest drivers set from Sony, only 1 set as far as I can see so not if
there are alternative downloads

I'm not quite sure if this will work on your computer model however I know it works on Toshiba and Advent models.
Go to Device Manager, Right click the webcam and chose to update the driver.

Chose to browse your computer for a driver.
Now go with the option to chose from a list of drivers.

Look up your webcam in the list and chose a driver suited for it.

If this works you can either stick with the driver you just installed or try to install Sony's own driver again and hope it will work better this time.
