Default Sky Anytime on PC & Windows Vista

Can anyone please help. I've got Sky Anytime on my pc, and have films in my
library to watch. However, when I try, all I get it a blank black screen
with the player buttons, but none work. I press play to my heart's content,
but nothing happens. I contact sky, who sent this reply :-

"Thank you for your email regarding Sky Anytime on PC.

I can confirm that after extensive investigation, our technical teams have
determined that the problem you’ve experienced, is not caused by the Sky
Anytime on PC application itself, but is caused by a core Microsoft Windows
issue on your computer.

Due to the complexity of this issue, we recommend that you seek advice from
Microsoft Windows Vista support, or a similarly qualified technical
reference. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

I've search the database for any answers, but to no avail. Does anyone else
have this problem? Have they solved it? If so, can someone please tell me
how????????

Awaiting replies with bated breath (and many films in my library......)

Hi Ken,

I'm downloading DivX now, and if it works I'll let you know. Of course,
I'll probably let you know if it doesn't too, lol.

Sorry I know it is annoying when people post unhelpful replies to threads. I
have exactly the same problem and Sky told me exactly the same thing. Passing
the buck like that is unacceptable. "extensive investigation"...

I have started my own thread on this. If I get any joy I will let you know.

I came across this post on the Sky User forums. I haven't had chance to try
it myself yet:

Re: Vista playing problems

I think you need to set admin rights to two files work for me with same
issue anyway.

right click skyanytime icon/properties/open file location/

KHost and KService need to right click and set admin rights on both files.

properties/compatibility/click run program as an administrator and apply do
the same for/show all settings for all users.

Note you may get a pop up at the begrinning from Windows Defender blocking
both file from running. So you need to right on icon and run blocked programs.

I also spoke to Sky a few days ago about the same problem and they
told me that the blank screen was a known issue and they did not have
a solution as yet but will call me when they had one. I followed your
instructions and all works perfectly fine now. Maybe someone should
point Sky's engineers to this news group!
