Ok as I am sure most people know at this stage that for some reason with
Dell 9200 and XPS computers that are using the above audio card, has
problems with the playback. It is slow to start and it freezes. I wanted to
know is there going to be an update for the driver??

I'm running a 9300 here with no problems at all, same audio. I don't recall
having to install Dell's driver, I think Windows Update installed the latest
SIGMATEL driver. If not Dell has it up for download.

I have the same problem on my Sony VGN-SZ4XWN. The only way I could get
round the problem was in Device Manager in System in Control Panel. I found
the uadio device and updated the driver the generic Micrsoft driver and got
sound back again. I then received an update to the Sigma Tel High
Definition Audio CODEC which was supposed to specifically address the
problem of loss of sound on upgrading to Vista Ultimate, but alas still no
sound so back to the generic driver.

You should have gotten either a Gateway DX420B or Gateway Gateway DX 430B
instead, Just FYI.
Kevin John Panzke (Proud Owner of a Gateway DX420B).
P.S. No Problem's Here, Just FYI.

you have to completely remove any vestige of the old driver before
reinstalling the audio driver when upgrading to Ultimate. There was a
bulletin detailing this on (what used to be) the sigmatel site - Google is
your friend.
