Default set up a standard view details that never change

This is an annoying one. Vista seems to think my files are either
music or images that it shows things that are not important to data
and takes important items such as "date last modified", "type" away
from the list.

I tried the old XP way by setting up the view I like and "Apply to
Folders" at Folder Options of Tools menu. It does not work. I think if
open a folder that Vista thinks it's an image folder, it reverts
back.

What does "Date taken" "rating", "tags" relate to data or folders? Is
there a way to make the old way norm while having the option to use
the Vista way with images?

Thanks for the help,

liu

It still changees so often. Why does the system assume that you use
computer for entertrainment only? What is the use of listing Album,
Artists, Genre, rating in my obvious data folders? They are not even
files. Is there a way to permanently turning these features that are
useless to me?

So far my experience with Vista is not that great. Older programs do
not work any more. 2 scanners that worked fine on XP are not
compatible anymore. It crashes more at simple tasks (may due to an
older programs I use). It thinks too much doing simple copying. The
only good things I like about Vista is the search function being
faster and sleep mode that you can turn on PC quickly.

I don't mind the company continue upgrading their OS but I don't like
that they force people to use Vista by not giving the users choices to
use XP. I have to use Vista because SONY does not provide XP drivers
to the laptop I bought. The laptop was produced before Vista so it has
XP elements before. With Vista out, they only provide Vista as OS and
there is no XP drivers on their site. It's probably the same for many
other vendors.

I'm surprised that nobody knows the answer to this problem. It
frustrates me that folder windows just choose whatever stacks they
like for me. I just want a window view to show type, size, name,
modified day. Isn't that simple enough for a sophisticated system to
remember and do? No free TweakUI either??? It's a forced downgrade for
me. Don't flame me for saying this. If a system is great, we're die to
have it. If it's bad, we get away from it like plagues. It's MS's job
to make us choose Vista....
