Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation
from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343
Re: Service Pack 1 doesn't show as available update
Thank you Don and Carey for the very fast response. I have checked the
computer against the list of items in the referenced article and none seems
to apply to this computer. All other updates are complete. I have downloaded
the standalone Service Pack, but am reluctant to install it. I think I might
hold off for a couple of weeks to see if it becomes available through normal
channels. I do have Symantec Anti-virus installed, but not one of the listed
programs, unless Live Update is problematic for the SP.
Again thanks very much for the quick response.

Re: Service Pack 1 doesn't show as available update
Forget about Windows Update. Just go to the Microsoft web site and download
the appropriate standalone installer, either for 32 bit or 64 bit Vista. Run
the installer and voila - SP1.

Re: Service Pack 1 doesn't show as available update
I did the manual install of Service Pack 1 and it works fine.
