Can I make Vista to reverse the stereo sound -- having the left sound play
on the right side and vice versa?
I have external speakers hooked up to my computer, and due to the short
cables on the speakers, it works better if the left speaker is on the right,
but thus my stereo is wrong...

yes, such cables exist - often sold as extensions for headsets.
Try a Radio Shack or other electronics store.

You should be able to get extension cables for just about any type of
connector. Most PC speaker systems use mini-jacks... you should be able to
find a mini-jack extension at your local Radio Shack.
Hi.. I have not dealt with Vista yet. But on my XP machine, I'm using
Realtek sound card and the drivers I got comes with a utility. Maybe you
should find out the manufacturer of your sound card and download the drivers
plus utility to fine tune your sound card, if such utility exist. Just a
thought.
Regards.

You can buy either longer cables or buy adapters (female jacks at both ends)
to create your own longer cables.

Reminds me of the sign scrawled on the wall behind the commode:
"If you can read this, report to the Student Health Center to have your head
reversed."

Consult the maker of your sound card to see if they built that
capability into their hardware and its device drivers.
