Default Remote control help

Hey, I've got a remote control with my Vista Home Edition, but the buttons
seem to "double click" each time i press them, i.e. I press the right key
once and it'll jump twice to the right, I press the pause key and it'll pause
then unpause.

As you can understand this is very very very annoying!!!

Can anyone help?
