Default Reinstallation + SP1 on DVD?

Hi,
If i would decide to perform a full reinstallation + the SP1 DVD what is
than the procedure.

1.Installation via the recovery partion or original DVD + product code
introduction of course

2. Is a validation to Microsoft required? (nothing has been changed on their
site)

3.Starting up the DVD with SP1....
Here i am confused because i was reading on the site where i copied the
full SP1 that first the original DVD has to be "activated" because not doing
in it would be impossible to remove the SP1?

Regards
Huib

Hi,

I'm unclear as to what you are asking. To reinstall cleanly you would need
to reinstall Vista, activate (probably by phone), then install SP1. You
cannot slipstream the service pack into the original installation media.
However, if you install Vista with the service pack integrated, you cannot
uninstall the service pack later.

Hallo,
Thanks for the reply.
The point is that a few months ago i performed a full reinstall but as far
as i remember i didn't do any reactivation towards Windows.
I could immediately download all updates again... (that is the reason of my
confusion).

regards
Huib

Hi Huib,

Activation was probably accomplished immediately as setup finished. This
would be the norm, the prompt comes up shortly after the initial logon.
Whether or not you activated immediately would not prevent downloading and
installing updates.
