I just received my upgrade Windows 7 disks. Ive followed the steps and
everything appears to be ready to upgrade for vista... Ive tried the upgrade
process 2 times and both times my computer got to 62% of the final part of
the install and sat there from11pm until 730 am.
what is the problem? bad software?
You are trying to upgrade from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. It can't be
done. You have to do a clean install, not an upgrade.

Unplug all hardware except mouse/keyboard. Disable in BIOS all hardware like
network and sound.

Have you not read about the upgrade snafu with the Student upgrades? Many of
the students have ordered the incorrect version and it stalls at 66% of the
final part of the upgrade. It then rolls back the upgrade. You need a clean
install to change to 64 bit from 32 bit. This fellow complains of the exact
same problem.
If it smells like a fish...............................
