Default Networking with XP pc's

We have a network of XP Pros and the boss recently purchased a Vista Home
Prem. Can this be networked with the XP pc's? I can't seem to view the C:
with the XP pc's even though I seemto have set the C: for sharing. When I
click on it from another computer It says I don't have access permission.

I've (eventually) networked my Vista Home Premium laptop with my XP Home PC.
But I needed to set up passwords on both, as well as overcome firewall
lockouts to do it!

You can do it but Windows, even XP SP-2 has gotten quite finicky about
sharing entire drives. Try sharing out specific folders, non-system
folders, and see if you can gain access that way.

Default RE: Networking with XP pc's

I have the same setup as you. Go into Vista Networking, turn ON Network
Discovery, file sharing, etc; and TURN OFF password protect. That will stop
you being asked for a password to access Vista from XP.
Also, change the Workgroup name in Vista to MSHOME, which the XPs by default
are(Vista by default calls its Workgroup WORKGROUP, lol). You have to have
ALL comps in the network with the same workgroup name.
For sharing files and folders, in Vista, I copied "Documents" into Vista's
"Public" folder; and in XP you have "Shared Folder"
To use XPs Printer from Vista go into Vista Networking, click on add Network
device, and go from there.
It works for me!
