media player wont open when i click on a media file

when i click on a media file; audio, video, etc.. it will open the windows
media player but i cant see it and i have to manually go and open windows
media player to see the video or audio that is playing. it just all of a
sudden started doing this a few days ago and im not sure why if anyone knows
whats going on and could help out that would be awesome bcause this is
becoming a huge hassle when it comes to editing film using adobe premeire.
