Hi .... I seem to have lost my sound when I use media player , all other
sound devices are fine, including Quick Play,
have checked everything I can think of.

You have the audio codecs for the media you are trying to play?
You haven't accidentally muted wmp or taken the volume slider down too low?

Hi Dave , thanks for your input, no all seems ok in that respect
Do you get any sort of error, or does audio simply not play?
What audio card is this?
What changed on the system - what was installed previous to this breaking?

Open Windows Media Player. Then right-click the speaker icon in the
notification area of the taskbar, select "open volume mixer". Has the
sound for WMP ben set low or perhaps muted?
