LifeCam VX-1000

I bought this, got the Vista software for it and installed on my HP with
Windows Home Basic. Device Manager says it's working properly, but the
shortcut won't open the program or start the camera. Anybody else have this
camera and problems? I've reinstalled the software twice. Maybe three will
be a charm, but I'd like anybody's help. Thanks.
