When I type the letter L in lower case using Notepad, it shows up on the
screen (and on the printed page) upside down and backwards...kind of looks
like the number 7. Its ok in wordpad, my emails, everywhere else. I think
its been this way since I got the PC. I have Vista Premium Home edition on a
5 month old Gateway laptop. Gateways "fix" was to "use wordpad instead" or
completely re-install Vista...losing everything I've installed!!

Have you tried a different font in the Format/font... menu?
That is the Lucida Console font being used, chose another one. Personally I
like Times New Roman. The choice sticks for the next time you open notepad.
