Running Vista Ultimate with SP1 and having large file copy issues. If I
attempt to copy a large file from my desktop to another device (laptop for
example) across the wire the copy start but eventually the counter will stop
moving and the window freezes. If I hit cancel it'll say cancelling but never
quits. Once this happens the entire tcp/ip stack is dead and I can't connect
to anything on the network. If I attempt to restart windows won't restart
because it says it can't close the copy window. My only choice is to power
cycle my desktop. Now if I copy from my desktop to my laptop wirelessly
(desktop plugged into wireless router) it works fine just slower of course.
Anyone else seen this?
Open a taskmanager
right click on the file transfer and click goto process
click end process
click yes
DO NOT MINIMIZE IT
this may remove your start menu temporarily. If it does not come back in
about 10 seconds do the following:
goto file
New task(run)
type explorer
that should bring it back
I have not seen had the issue you are having. try sending the file in
smaller parts.

You cannot end the process I have tried numerous times. Also, I see no
reason I should need to take a 4g file break it up into 100meg chunks and
then rejoin it on the other end. That would take forever and shouldn't need
to be done.
