Default Laptop will no longer sleep, turn off display, or go into screen s

Hi. I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S4607 laptop running Windows Vista. After
some of the most recent updates, I am no longer able to have the computer
sleep, turn off its display, or go into the screen saver after a specified
period of time--I can change the settings, but the features themselves simply
won't work.

I installed all of the following updates yesterday, and my computer was
running fine before then.
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB943055)
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB944533)
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB946026)
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB946456)
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB905866)
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB938371)
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB943302)
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB943899)
Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista (KB947172)
Most recent optional update for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator for Mobile
(7.14.10.1409?)
iTunes 7.6.1.9
QuickTime 7.4.1/QuickTime Player 7.4.1

I am also using a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 with this
machine. Any help you can provide would be incredibly appreciated.

The hybrid sleep feature and the hibernation feature in Windows Vista may
become unavailable after you use the Disk Cleanup Tool :

I never said it had anything to do with Disk Cleanup.

Install the Optional Hardware Update that is named Microsoft HID Non-User
Input Data Filter.

That solved it for me.
