I have a piece of software called System Mechanic 7 Professional which the
makers Iolo Technologies say is vista compatible. It clearly isn't yet MS
list it as one of the Vista compatible pieces of software. Iolo claim that a
lot of the features of SM7 Pro won't work because MS haven't released the
drivers/code or whatever to allow the product to write to the hard drive, is
this correct and if so who is to blame? Iolo for releasing the software as
Vista Compatible or MS for not releasing the code to enable software
manufacturers to make thier products compatible?

First of all, System Mechanic is a complete waste of money and time, no
matter what version of Windows it is installed on. It is a complete piece
of trash.
Second, if the company that makes it told you it is Vista Compatible, and it
is not, *DEMAND* a refund, and use the money on something that is not a
waste.

If Iolo say its compatible and it is not, then clearly they are wrong. They
are even claiming that some features will not work therefore they are
admitting it is not compatible.
Dump System Mechanic.. programs of that genre have never been any good..

So Iolo is saying it is Vista compatible but that a lot of the features
won't work and they know it. Then how is it Vista compatible? Return it.
Why do you think you need something like System Mechanic?

It is strange that the latest version of ZoneAlarm, under Windows XP, also
has problems when System Mechanic 7 is installed.
I would suspect that Iolo (makers of System Mechanic) are dropping the ball
here.
