The title says it all. If my 2 gig year old Dell laptop downloads updates,
upon reboot it goes into Installing Updates mode and this goes on and on and
on, perhaps for 20 min or so. Any suggestions?

I wonder if Bill Gates goes through this much fun with his install of Vista
Ultimate?

When I looked after running the configuring updates over night it was
complete. Still no serious suggestions?

Hey man I have the exact same problem. Im on VIsta Ultimate and when I
bought it this fall I had to get Vista. So there was not anything I could do
to get XP, but ya I have the same problem. It will install updates, but when
it "restarts" ive waited here for hours and nothing.

Heh, no one here knows the answer but I do and I'm not telling :-) Go
back to XP or get Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com. Trust me, you'll thank me
for it.

Get rid of Vista and install a proper operating system.
If you insist on running Micro$oft then at least get one that works - Ah
your not going to get one there then.
You could always go back to dos and an GUI environment OS2 would do from IBM
shame M$ got rid of that.
Hey how about using LINUX ? Faster than Vista No viruses Oh and updates take
seconds to install and download, best of all its FREE.
