Default IE trying to monitor activity

I'm using Zoenalarm and since the VISTA updates I have been getting a
message saying that IE is trying to monitor activity on this pc and may
track keystrokes and mouse movement. I have deny it this access but just
wonder is this normal ?

Thanks Shacks

Hi Richard,

No it's not, and IE doesn't do that. However, a plug-in or add-on that you
picked up on some salicious web site may be the culprit. Disable the ones
loading with IE under tools/manage add-ons/enable or disable.

Your browser may be hi-jacked and/or your hosts file is compromised.
Try to run the Hijack This program and look at all the suspicious
entries you find in the log. As for your hosts file, look here:

http://www.hostsfile.info/free_antihijack_utility.html

If you really like to use IE consider something like the Avant
browser. It's all the good stuff from IE combined with a higher level
of security and content filtering. It also has on-line bookmark, login
automation and autofill. Very good in my opinion. Take a look here:

http://www.avantbrowser.com/

I assume you have some malware protection going (in addition to
Windows Defender which is good, but not always good enough).
Personally I like Webroot SpySweeper with AntiVirus. Has kept me clean
for years. I have even dropped a separate virus scanner after they got
the excellent Sophos anti virus protection added to the package.

Can you really say that definitively? I ask this because I have observed
similar behavior on perfectly stock machines. Microsoft already taps in
with the Windows Updates, so how do you know it doesn't go furthur.
Maybe theres no spying software, but don't just say "no" when you don't
really know for sure, unless you wrote Vista.

You might want to have a look at the following:
http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/001116.html

It appears, that a number of applications are producing this Alert in Zone
Alarm. You might also want to check out the following thread from the Zone
Alarm Forums:
http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=15664

This is certainly a legitimate concern and alert but it's purpose was to
alert users to possible keyloggers on their system. Unfortunately, it is
picking up any software that MIGHT be able to do that. As you can see in
the first link, any number of applications began producing this alert when
Zone Alarm first introduced this option.
