Default Icons

Can someone please tell me why some of my desktop icons have a windows
shield at the bottom right-hand corner? What does that mean? I ask because
a couple icons did not have it, and now they do. Cheers!

The shield means that Windows believes the file will need administrative
rights to run correctly, like a program installer or such.

Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D has shields, but Ad-Aware doesn't! It is
getting choosy!
