Default Icon border changes but picture on icon stays the same when enlarg

I do not have many icons on my desktop and I like my icons larger. When I
enlarge them the icon border changes but the picture on the icon stays the
same size. What is going on here?

Hi Brazos,

In order to see the icon enlarge past the "Medium" size, they need to
be a 256 bit .ico (Icon) file. Some older programs and icons in Vista
meant for other display modes are not 256 bit. Most of the good icons
in Vista are located here: "C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll" . Just
open this file with the "Change Icon" button. See this for more details
on how to change the icons.

How are you enlarging them? Right click on the Desktop, View, select Large
Icons or Extra Lg.

Sorry Brazos,

It is 256x256 pixels, but 32 bit. You can read more on the icons here.
It will show you how to make icons that are compatible with the larger
sizes. You might be able to convert the ones you have to.

I had downloaded Microangeleo toolset 6 and was using their icon editor. I
took your advice and downloaded Axialis icon editor. This worked great. It
is a very good program. I want to extend my thanks to you. Made my day man.

Your welcome Brazos,

I always found Axialis pretty easy to use and understand. Glad that it
helped you out.

Thank you for the feedback,
Shawn
