here is why YOU CAN slipstream vista

vLite 1.1.6 beta - SP Slipstream
2008.03.28 by nuhi
Oho, another version. Service Pack Slipstream support. Consider that feature
a true beta test.
vLite had a hidden Slipstream page since the service pack betas so this was
not so hard to adjust. You can see it by running older vLite with /sptest
switch.
However it stopped working on the final SP1 when MS locked it down.
So this version should work again. Try this latest one and let me know of
any issues with the Slipstream.
Of course it is always better to either capture or get a preintegrated DVD
because MS said that integrating is not recommended before SP2 is out.

Important notes:
- slipstreaming x64 SP from x86 host is not supported, you need x64 host
- make sure that you have at least 4GB free at the partition where your temp
folder is located (check in Options)
- SP1 supports only these 5 langauges for now: English (US), French, German,
Japanese, or Spanish (Traditional).

Actually, this is not quite correct: It is a program which enables
one to create Vista Installation media which is MISSING modules, etc
the user doesn't want.

Vista slipstreaming is
1) NOT Implemented in the Vista image as released from Microsoft.
PERIOD. From this, I assume that vlite uses ILLEGAL
"backward-engineering" to accomplish its current EXPERIMENTAL
slipstreaming method. ANY image which uses this would be UNLICENSED
by Microsoft.
2) Microsoft's current "word" on Vista slipstreaming is that it WON'T
be available to consumers until SP2.

I do advise one to STAY AWAY from the
vLite experimental method, if he is concerned about his license, or if
he administers many machines commercially, or if his machines are
subject to periodic inspection by Microsoft Licensing.

At least, not as the image stands today. Microsoft has said that it
could be available to consumers by SP2, but not before.

NOTE, friend, that vLite is NOT a "true", nor is it a "valid" method,
since the Vista Gold image does NOT include a slip-streaming method at
this time.

I am convinced that vLite would have to use illegal
backward-engineering of the image to accomplish what they claim is
"slipstreaming" of Vista.

Microsoft HAS held out the possibility of incorporating a
slipstreaming method into the SP2 release.

IF I worked for Microsoft, I would be required to disclose my industry
affiliations in each of my posts.

NOTE that no such affiliations are disclosed in any of my posts.
This is because I do not work for Microsoft in ANY capacity.

I do love the truth, however.
Whether my opinions are "unbiased" or not is completely irrlevant,
since what I've stated is the truth, whether you like it or not.

MIcrosoft has NOT YET released a consumer version of SP1 with a
mechanism for slipstreaming, and probably won't before SP2, as they've
stated.

And since the developer of vLite claims that he HAS enabled this, he
obviously did it by backward engineering the Service Pack.

Take your threats elsewhere, where people will appreciate them. They
have not moved me a bit. IF you WANT to impress me, try the TRUTH for
a change.

Hello Ahmad12,

There is no certain way yet to slipstrea, the Vista SP1. The closest
thing to it is with the vLite 1.1.6 beta 2 here:

'Download - vLite - Windows Vista configuration tool'

The instructions are for nlite, but are the same for vLite. You will
just need to substitute Vista for XP, ETC....

Use the automated way steps 1 to 4 for the Beginning User at the top
right corner.

'MSFN's Unattended Windows : Step 1 - Creating a Local Source'

It has worked for some and not for others. This is why it's still in
beta. You may get lucky.

Hope this helps,
Shanw
