Hello,
Some Vista systems show in the power options on the left side a slider
labeled "Adjust the LCD Brightness". But some other systems not.
Does anybody know the reason why some systems show and others don't?

The standard way to adjust brightness on a stand alone monitor, use the
control buttons on the front of the monitor.
On a laptop, use the function keys. These keys are usually blue colored and
are enabled by holding down the FN key and pressing the buttons for
brightness.
