I have not even looked at Vista, but I will soon be helping a friend with a
laptop for problem he has with Vista. To me it sounds like something that
might have already been addressed. When he starts his laptop it brings him to
a black screen that just states "Select Enter" to start. Any help. Thanks in
advance.

Based on your rather sparse description, it sounds like the problem has
absolutely nothing to do with Vista, and everything to do with the
laptop's hardware and/or BIOS configuration. Consult the laptop's
manual or manufacturer.
