Default Gadgets won't stay put

Every now and then, for reasons known only to themselves, my Sidebar gadgets
will shuffle their order around. I like to keep the clock at the top,
followed by the calendar; the other stuff doesn't matter so much but I'd
like them to stay where they're put. I'm assuming Windows puts them up in
the order that they load, so whatever loads quickest at log-on time will get
to the top. I'd like to be able to nail them in place if possible.

Also, if I drag a gadget off the sidebar it will slowly but surely creep
from right to left across the desktop, maybe a pixel at a time, with each
log-on.

Is this normal or can I put a stop to this wayward behaviour?
