I have Vista Ultimate and Microsoft Fingerprint Reader. The reader works
fine under all circumstances except when the computer goes into any power
saving scheme. The one I use right now will switch off the display and hard
disks, but will NOT go into sleep. However, when I touch the fingerprint
reader, my print is not recognized. I repeat: in all other circumstances it
is. Anyone knows why?

This seems different. The computer is not in sleep, it's just the display
that is off. If I move the mouse or hit a key, the screen comes on correctly
and the logon screen is there, with the usual fingerprint reader icon. The
reader is on and it reacts correctly when I touch it. The only problem is my
fingerprint is not recognized - I get the message that it's an unknown
logon. If I then type my password the logon proceeds normally and the
fingerprint reader "remembers" me again.
