File copy/move "more information" auto open

Greetings,
It seems that every time I copy or move some files I have to click the
"more information" button on the copy window. Does any one know a way
to make it be open always?

HOW are you copying or moving files? In Windows Explorer, or in a Command
Prompt window, or in some application, or ??? Copying from where, to where?

And WHAT "more information" button are you seeing? What "copy window". I
never see such a button or such window.

Please tell us, step by step, what you are doing and what you are seeing.
If there is an error message, please copy it here, verbatim.

And, while it probably is not needed in this case, it's always a good idea
to specify which version of Vista you are using.

Remember, you can see your computer. We can't. All we know about it is
what you tell us. So far, that's not much.

Whenever you move or copy large files anywhere, there is a window with the green
progress bar AND there is a little button in the lower left corner (down
pointing chevron) for more information : number of files copied or moved and
estimated time remaining, and transfer rate.

I, too, would like the default to ALWAYS show this information without having to
press the More Information button.

Thanks for the reminder. ;<}

Yes, it would be nice to not need to press the button. But presenting that
information probably takes some small amount of time PER FILE, and it could
add significantly to the total time required for a really big move or copy
of many files. I suppose the developers considered this the best
compromise.

And someone, somewhere, sometime, may discover a Registry hack that does
what you want. But sometimes that takes years.

I've scoured the web looking for an answer. The closest i got was at
Experts Exchange, where the same question was asked by someone else.

You're right though: there must be a registry entry for this.

I would not mind it always open if there is a way. I would also like
the copy/move progress dialog to display full path and file
information. And I would like it to display correct information as
well (copying files from an FTP to my local drive always seems to
indicate I am copying from C:\Windows which might be the case but that
is just an intermediate location)

Given that a ~10 minute transfer now takes me ~20-60 minutes, an exta
millisecond or two to display file names is not that much of extra hit.

Considering all the code that goes into the OS, it takes a few years for the
programmers to actually document everything. Or the demand is enough that
the code gets rewritten just to allow the hack.
