Default Factory Image Restore Backup Help

I just purchased a computer from dell, Vista Home Premium, I am needing help
to figure out how i can make recovry disc, so If every i have to I can use
them to restore the computer back to the factory image instead of
reinstalling windows from the installation DVD that came with the computer
becuase you dont get everything and all the preinstalled programs,
In Xp I was able to create a set of system recovery disc, I glad i did
becuase not to long after a worm got through my virus protection and somehow
wiggled it way into the recovery partition and destroyed it,
That is the reason I am needing help so I can have a copy of my recovery
partition/tool, just incase that ever happens on this computer, becuase I
dont want to have to use the reinstallation DVD and have to search for all
the programs and and what nots that was preinstalled from the factory
If any has any information on this, would i greatly appreciate it,
thanks

System restore CDs come with pre installed computer but the programs files
are pre loaded on your hard drive.. The Start up disk that you made for XP
was just a DOS loader and booted the computer to a DOS prompt.

You restore disk from Dell will get your current installation up and running
and install what is necessary to get windows going.

You can use your XP start up disks in your computer to get that DOS prompt
and Doss programs like fdisk, even though it uses Vista now.

Check the manual that came with your computer or the Dell web site for
instructions on creating a restore disc set.

It almost certainly comes with a factory image already on the Hard Disk. I
have recently re-installed a factory image for a Dell Vista computer doing
the following (this is from memory as the Vista PC was not mine).

Keep Pressing F8 as the PC starts up.
You should then see a screen with various options including Repair Computer.
Select this.
You will then have a few questions such as Keyboard language, and then
offered a list of options. One of these options is something like Restore
Factory Image.

Adrian.
