I'm using core duo notebook with vista. I attach an external optic mouse, a
printer, a palm dock, and a usb powered scanner via a passive usb hub.
Whenever I wake my notebook from hibernation, all stuffs are working fine
except my external mouse. The light is on but cannot move the cursor. Unplug
and re-plug cannot revive the mouse function, but the light is on. I also
tried to attach mouse directly to usb port -- same thing. If I re-start,
then the mouse is ok again. I'm using microsoft optical mouse, model 1016
Re: external usb mouse went dead after hibernation
Have you installed the drivers for the mouse?

Re: external usb mouse went dead after hibernation
Open Device Manager (located in the Control Panel)
and expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Right-click on USB Root Hub and select Properties.
Click on the Power Management tab and uncheck
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
