Default Emailing Pictures from Windows Explorer - Email button brings Outlook instead of Thunderbird

Hi,

Contact has a Vista business laptop that until recently when you went into
Windows Explorer to look at pictures you can press the email button and it
would prepare an email in their email client Mozilla Thunderbird with the
image as a file attachment.

However recently this has changed back to Microsoft Outlook for no
particular reason.
Checked all the defaults and they all point to Thunderbird still being the
default program for email.
Under file associations, have checked that for protocols, SENDTO is set to
Thunderbird.

However the "E-mail" button still now brings up Outlook.

How can I change this back. It's very frustrating and I've played around for
a good long while.

Thanks in advance.

Tried many times and does not work. That's my point. It is set everywhere to
be default for Thunderbird but in the situation I have described it still
brings up Outlook 2007.

Winmail or Outlook are better.

Obey Microsoft or be destroyed.

aka: Once you install a Microsoft OS they OWN your system. THEY
delicate how your system will look and feel (minimize User Options,
especially in Vista).

Microsoft, as far as there OS goes, have stopped being concerned about
the User, maximizing User Options so we can configure OUR system to
look and feel the way WE want. Example, Windows 7 is reported to
eliminate classic Start Menu user interface. See Microsoft's
attitude, to hell with users who LIKE classic modes.

Sorry for the rant... I'll climb off my soapbox now.

I don't see any email button in explorer. When I email a picture from
explorer I right click the image then select "send to" and then "mail
recipient" which opens Thunderbird. Have you tried doing it that way?

Try making Outlook the default and OK/Apply your way out. Then go back
in and make T-Bird the default and see if that doesn't work. If you
don't use Outlook, another way to do it is to uninstall Outlook. You
don't have to uninstall the rest of Office to do that, btw.

The reason it happened is when you update Outlook 07, it automatically
makes itself the default without any user input.

Note that pre Vista versions of Windows, you had an icon that was named
"My computer". Notice anything missing in Vista?

I am SO excited!! I just figured it out!! PHEW!!! Persistence pays off.
SO I will share with you NOW.

Go to Start Menu, Press DEFAULT PROGRAMS. Click "Set your default
programs" Click on Thunderbird in left column; Thunderbird info will
appear in box to right....below that choose "Set this program as
default" and then press OK....then you get to test it out right away!!
Let me know if it works for you. I am SO STOKED!!
