Default Easy Transfer beginner

I have successfully loaded and made the connection between my old XP and new
Vista. When the XP is scanned I get a list of files etc to transfer that
includes "Windows settings". Why would I want to transfer XP settings to
Vista? This seems wrong. I also have a new Norton account on my Vista and
don't want to confuse it with settings from the old Norton program. Should I
just let the Easy Transfer program make the selection, trust it and click'OK'?

I haven't used easy transfer but if it allows you to deselect things you
don't need and/or don't want, I'd deselect those things. With regard to
settings, you should remember, this feature is primarily meant to allow a
user to transfer settings of the same OS. A few years down the road, you
and others may get new computers that already have Vista installed and you
might want to transfer your current Vista settings to the new computer.

No, you wouldn't want to transfer your XP settings to your Vista setup.
