Easiest way to transfer outlook 2003 settings (XP) to Outlook 2007 onnew vista machine?
I am purchasing a new Windows Vista laptop with Microsoft Office 2007.
I don't want to have to rebuild my outlook configuration on my new
machine.
Does Vista allow a painless and easy way to transfer over my e-mail
and all my settings and e-mail accounts? I would assume I would need a
USB bridge cable for this.
I know there are ways to do the backup and restore manually file by
file (including playing with profiles to remove the default
outlook.pst), but I want something quick and easy if it exists.
Thanks

There is this application called "Windows Easy Transfer" that comes along
with Vista. Its in "All Programs" | "Accessories" | "System Tools" menu.
Among other things, it claims to be able to transfer email settings too. You
might want to give it a try.

While it claims that, it doesn't work for Outlook.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to transfer settings or accounts. The
"Windows Easy Transfer" that comes with Vista ALWAYS creates a broken mail
profile for Outlook. You're better off configuring a new mail profile and
setting up your accounts manually. Transferring your data, however, is easy
and you can use the WET program, a CD, or flash drive for that. See this: http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2002/up...#movetonew2002 (it still
applies) or this: http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm
