Do I need to install Acronis True Image Home 10 on both Vista and XP drives?
Or can I do backups (images) of each physical drive from within Vista. Will
I get a good XP complete image (OS etc) doing the backup from within Vista?
Thanks.
No. From either partition Acronis will backup and restore the all
partitions. What is most important is how Acronis is used - generate a
"Secure Zone" backup or to another HD or removable media.

I'm confused. From the menu I select "My Computer" > Next.
Then I see "Disk 1" and "Disk 2". Disk one is Vista and two is XP. (physical
disks)
I can check the box for either or both drives. If I select disk 2 (XP) from
within Vista will I not get an entire image of that physical drive...
including the bootable OS and all it would take to do a complete restore?
I am backing up to an external hard drive.

Your best bet is to do both backups from within Vista. Remember that you
will lose your Vista restore points and shadow copies whenever you boot into
XP

You would get a complete backup of the partition selected. I see no
evidence that it backs up or restores a MBR or boot record.
