Default Downloads and Vista

I hope someone can help me shed some light on this issue. I recently
upgraded to Vista Business. I have had issues with installing programs
downloaded from the internet. If I download a program on my Vista
laptop the program will not install. If I download the program on an
XP machine and copy it to my Vista laptop the program will install. I
have also tried changing the OS compatibility mode on the executable
and still cannot install the program.

I have tried downloading the same programs with Firefox and IE7 and
get the same result. Several of the downloads would give a CRC error
when trying to install.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks!!
JT

Hi JW:
When I was using Vista RC1 I ran into that problem and someone suggested
trying downloading the file to the desktop and then right click the file and
click "run as administrator" and see if it will install that way. Seems odd
to be logged in as administrator and then having to select run as
administrator but it actually worked for a couple of programs for me. I
haven't tried that in the full release version of Vista but it can't hurt to
see if it works?
