I am trying to download a file from Microsoft MSDN (DataAnalysis.zip.exe) & Vista won't let it execute. What do I have do to allow it to unzip itself? I cannot find what switch to turn off & help is no help.
> What switch??
Well, if I knew what MS is calling their options & where they were, I
wouldn't be asking now. In the land of DOS, these options were called
'switches'. Now they take many forms and locations.
I just want to download and execute the file provided by MS. In 'Mail', you
'allow attachments to be opened'. How do I do the same thing in IE7?

As hard as I try I can't find this file on the MSDN site.
Are you sure you've downloaded this file from MSDN?
The only time I've ever seen a file named in such a manner is when someone
is trying (badly) to hide an executable file as something else. (thus the
..... .zip.exe) This is usually some form of mal-ware when someone does
this.
This may be why Windows (mainly, Defender) won't allow the file to be
executed.

I just realized, I should have also asked, what exactly DOES happen when you
attempt to run this file?
It appears the Zip got added to the Exe somehow and that's why it won't open. Right click the file and select Rename, remove the ". " and the "Zip" so it only reads DataAnalysis.exe and it should open.
All the best,

Right click on DataAnalysis.exe, select Properties, then hit Unblock. There
should not be mention of 'zip' in the filename at all.
