DOS re-written

I've done this with every OS since win98.
To see all the commands available for DOS, you type HELP. instant screens full of commands.
The MORE command allows you to pause this mess one page at a time. Until Vista.

help : more
does NOT work. And I doubt there's a fix for it. IIRC DOS is hardware specific hard coded.
I suppose the DOS could be flashed if it has that sort of ram. But I wouldn't hold my breath for that fix.

I didn't really try to see what else ': more' failed on.

or
use a virtual machine like vmware to load real dos on it.

You can download for free vmware server, or vmware player.
To make a virtual machine for player you can go to this site

Vista isnt even windows anymore with all the incompatibilities,
you want it still to be dos? LOL

What is this file then? Perhaps if you used the pipe rather than the drive
letter specifier it would work.

Perhaps if you weren't a dog s1ut you would have posted a problem
description, a what happened (with the error message that tells us you have
a dog's knot in you), and what you expected.

But we got a whining dog s1ut whimpering about Vista.

There is no DOS in Vista (nor in XP, W2K or NT for that matter).

There is, however, a command console which looks a bit like a DOS screen and
lets you do various things. Linux has a similar console.

None of this is hardcoded anywhere, nor it is hardware specific.

The contribution from '.', whilst unnecessarily rude, gives you the proper
syntax.

I doubt that dos was re-written.
I've not tried to use "help" on vista but i'd think
you'd need to use the "pipe" key *not* the colon

try help |more instead

The command prompt window should have a scroll bar on the right. You can
then slide the view up and down to read everything. I just tried it and it
works.
It's a little bit easier to read it if you maximize the window.

And using the pipe, as others suggested, gives you what you're looking for.
But for me, I think using the window scrollbar works better. Others, of
course, will have a different opinion.

Funny, although you are knowledgeable regarding Operating Systems,
You've just, with that unnecessarily abusive rant, exposed yourself for
what you obviously are: A coward that couldn't possible get away with
talking to anyone like that in real life, so they get off on being
abusive through a means that protects them from real-world consequences.
I don't know why keyboard commandos such as yourself can't grasp that on
usenet, things are just like they are in real life: When you hear
someone doing a lot of talk, then that's all they are good at. People
that do not have a lowered sense of self-esteem are not abusive towards
others. I expect though, that you will come back with some lame excuse
about "teaching the OP about the subject at hand", as if you were some
kind of Good Samaritan dealing out tough lessons, when really, it's just
someone that only has the courage to vent on someone while remaining.

You need to use the Pipe ( | ) character between Help | More, not a Colon.
Works in the Vista emulator just like all other versions of Windows.
