One of several far better, much smarter players then Media Player.
I keep wondering WHY Microsoft can't seem to develop a DECENT media
player, that doesn't sputter, stall, stop, or nag it can't find
codecs...even those already on the system.

You can get a free divx package download here (http://www.divx.com/). While
most of the additional pieces aren't Vista compatible, the codec will load
and function just fine in WMP11 on Vista.

I have the same problem. The computer suggested I go to the help
website, which suggested NOT using thumbnails view in my folders that
contain the avi's and mpegs. I didn't want that, preffering the thums
view in folders that will allow it.
So, I went online and chatted with HP, who send me a patch, which I
installed and I still get the same rundll32 error.

Sure-- per http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
when you go the Problem Reports and Solutions, there should be information
about any crash that is reported. You should get an Application Name,
Module Name, and most importantly (hopefully) a fault bucket number. That
data can be really illuminative. Do you have that data?
