Default divx

I'm new to vista. Having problems playing certain avi and mpeg files.
Getting the message "windows host process rundll32 has stopped
working". Help!

divx is not compatible with vista yet

until it is, download this free fantastic player that can play almost
anything,
without the need to install seperate codecs

www.gomplayer.com

Since I found this, I no longer even touch media player.

Default Re: divx

you might also want to install "real alternative"
and "quicktime alternative" (only if you dont want iTunes though since
itunes installes quicktime anyway)

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm

together with gomplayer www.gomplayer.com will enable to to play almost
anything thats "out there"

One of several far better, much smarter players then Media Player.

I keep wondering WHY Microsoft can't seem to develop a DECENT media
player, that doesn't sputter, stall, stop, or nag it can't find
codecs...even those already on the system.

Are you listening Biily G?

This is one of my long time beefs. FIX IT!

Well, if it's crashing using MPEG files, "divx" looks to be a red herring...

What's the crash bucket number:
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
?

You can get a free divx package download here (http://www.divx.com/). While
most of the additional pieces aren't Vista compatible, the codec will load
and function just fine in WMP11 on Vista.

I have the same problem. The computer suggested I go to the help
website, which suggested NOT using thumbnails view in my folders that
contain the avi's and mpegs. I didn't want that, preffering the thums
view in folders that will allow it.

So, I went online and chatted with HP, who send me a patch, which I
installed and I still get the same rundll32 error.

Maybe a better fix is forthcoming.

Donny

Same question to you then:
* What fault bucket number do you get for this crash:
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
?

Hi Zach,

I'd love to answer you, can you tell me how, please?

Here's the page that Problem Reports and Solutions takes me to:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=249873

Sure-- per
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
when you go the Problem Reports and Solutions, there should be information
about any crash that is reported. You should get an Application Name,
Module Name, and most importantly (hopefully) a fault bucket number. That
data can be really illuminative. Do you have that data?
