Default Data transfer using external floppy disk drive

I have some floppies I made on an old Dell (o/s: Win98SE). I want to transfer
this data to my new Gateway (o/s: Windows Vista Home Premium) using an
external floppy drive. Will Windows Vista recognize files that were made
using Win98SE?

It has nothing to do with Vista...
it is a matter of the application you used to create the data.

If you have the same (or compatable) application installed on Vista...
then the data will be useable.

Hi,

No reason it shouldn't. Now, whether or not it knows what to do with them
depends on how they were created and what file format they were saved in.

Instead of asking here why don't you just try it.

I haven't purchased the external floppy drive yet and I don't want to
purchase a device that will be useless.

There's no issue with Vista recognizing the files. As long as the
necessary applications are installed under Visa, the files will be
usable.

However there very well may be an issue with Vista recognizing the
diskettes at all. If the diskettes were formatted under Windows 98,
Vista will probably not be able to read them, because of the Media
Descriptor Byte issue described here:
