Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Hi,
I've just bought a new pc with Vista premium (32 bit) pre-installed and I'm
having trouble.
Whenever I click control panel the window opens, but only for a split second
then closes. That happens every single time I click control panel.
Flip 3D doesn't work either. When I press the windows key + tab, nothing
happens, and when I click ''switch between windows'' a little box pops up
showing what I'm using but it doesn't go into flip 3D.
Also, nothing happens at all when I click Welcome center, and I'm sure they
aren't the only things going wrong.
My system meets all the specifications for Vista. In fact, it blows them to
pieces.
I've tried using system restore, and that does fix the problem but only for
a few hours or so.
I'd really appreciate some help from someone who knows what they're talking
about. I'll keep my eye on this thread for replies.
Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Update your drivers, especially video. Take it back to a restore point where
everything works and immediately go get the new drivers.

Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Thanks for replying. I did a system restore, downloaded the new drivers and
everything works. But the restore points didn't go back to the points when
this problem started, and I'm pretty sure I already had the latest video card
drivers.
What do I do if the problem occurs again?
Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Look at the restore points again for OLDER THAN 5 DAYS....

Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Re-install your video drivers..... this often corrects such issues. If no
joy come back here
with as good a description as you can.

Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
I just noticed after downloading the latest Nvidia 8800 drivers that Windows
Aero has stopped working! I've tried right clicking the desktop and going to
personalize but the option to switch it to Aero has vanished. I was there
just before I got the new drivers 10 mins ago! Argh!
I'm going to try the Beta drivers and see if that sorts things out.
No I'm using an AVG 30 day free trial while I save up for the full version
of AVG or another anti-virus program.
Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Set to see Aero is still set instead of Windows Classic.... If so change to
windows classic.
Change your resolution to something else (lower is better). Change back to
Aero and change
resolution back to what you want.

Re: Control panel, Flip 3D and welcome center not working
Ok that fixed it, I think. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
Thanks for all your help.
