Default computer can't be activated after sleep mode

Hardware: Acer laptop 9300. OS: Windows vista. After computer has been left
in sleep mode for more than 120 minutes, power indicator turns green and the
computer seems to pass onto another mode (hybernation?) from which it can't
be activated. It freezes. Pushing the start button nothing happens. After a
long time an error message pops up on a blue screen: Something about power
failure and windows not properly shut down .

Hi oivind,

Got the same problem. When pc comes out of sleeping mode (by touching key
pad or moving mouse) the indicator light turns green but then nothing happens
and the computer freezes. The screen doesn't turn on either. Pressing the
start button for more then 6 seconds makes it reboot. My 'solution' is not to
use the sleeping mode any more.

Sounds just like my Vista Home Premium, I have disabled sleep mode
too. I need to keep the darn thing on for it to start recording. Any
fix in sight?

I was having similar problems with my system and managed to trace it to the
AV program I was using. Once I removed Computer Associates EZ Anti-Virus my
system slept (and more importantly, woke up) just fine.

Sounds like a driver problem, or some resident program is conflicting with
sleep. Try disabling resident programs one by one, then disabling some
devices one by one until you find the culprit.
