can't burn a cd

windows media player says that it is burning a cd, and it will play on the
media player but can't play on other devices, any suggestions

Burn a CD using a different burner program. Try that CD on other devices. If
that doesn't work, hardware may be suspect. If it burns and plays on the
same device but not on others, yeah, sounds like a hardware issue, i.e.,
there's something up with your burner that skews CD's so they don't work
with other devices.

I know there are others in this ng that can better explain the hardware side
of things.
