Default Buy Vista Business but install XP Pro

I read somewhere that you can buy Vista Business, but given you have the
media, install XP Pro until you are ready to move to Vista.

I want to validate this before I start building PC's for a lab that is not
ready for Vista yet.

Thank you,

What are you going to install XP Pro from? Did you get an install disk and
product key?

Steve;
Some, but not all OEM licenses come with downgrade rights.
You would need to read the specific license of your product to
determine if it comes with the downgrade option.

If so, then you need to furnish your own key and CD for Windows XP
Pro, Microsoft will not furnish them.

I have plenty of CD's Being IT for a College. My understanding is that you
can call to activate and get a key for this situation.

Do you know if this is available on Volume licensing? I would much prefer
getting one key rather than the 45 I am looking at doing this with?

I'm not familiar with the educational license you have. We can only
speculate, which really won't help you. You need to contact the source for
your products or Microsoft to get a definitive answer.

You really need to have a chat with your VLP. We can't possibly help you
here with these kinds of questions as they are far outside our expertise.
