Every time the pointer turns into the "busy" circle, it moves rapidly a
little up and down, rapidly flashes on and off and the same happens for the
shadow of the pointer. It probably a problem of Windows itself, so I propose
that you further research the problem. Any suggestions welcome.

Mine does not do it!
That negates it being a problem with Windows vista!

Just because your computer doesn't do it means it's a problem with Vista?
You narrow minded ****HEAD. Just FYI.

Yes, because the creator of this set mouse points had
no idea about the meaning of the 'hotspot' in a cursor
definition. Last time I saw such misdesigned cursors
was in Windows 3.1 times... Back in these days I wrote
a litte tool to test for this: http://www.uwe-sieber.de/files/mousepointertest.zip
It should be possible to correct the hotspot by means
of a cursor file editor as MicroAngelo: http://www.microangelo.us
Thank you very much for this little program, because it helped me note this:
the 'busy' pointer actually flickers once every time the most light-colored
place of the pointer reaches the top of the circle, not all the time. (note:
I have Windows Vista) However, you haven't pointed out what the correct
behavior of the pointer should actually be in the 'test for correct hotspots'
panes. In those three panes, my pointer changes rapidly position and state,
that is it goes up, down, left and right and changes between 'normal select',
'working in background' and 'busy' quickly. I don't know if this is the
correct behavior, so please help me! :-)

"busy" pointer flickers - for me after sp1 install
Have the same problem (or at least had) after I installed SP1 for vista Home Premium.
What I found out was that there was a left over service from my previous ATI card that was using up to 40% of my CPU.
First I asked Microsoft advice and they told me that it is a video card driver problem. But their sollution? As always: reinstall the latest drivers.
Of course that doesn't help anything.
What you should try is: run services.msc
search for the service: Ati External Event Utility service
If you can find it... then right click on it and choose options.
There you choose for startuptype: Disabled.
Reboot your machine and see if it is helping.
Also click ctrl-alt-del and choose windows taskmanager.
Choose the 4th tabpage (Performance). Before ATI service is disabled you'll see a high cpu-usage. After disabling it should be low. When not working it should be 1 or 0...
Normally... (if you have the same issue, that could be a sollution.)
Maybe you never used ATI... Maybe you can't find it...
Then feel free to contact me and I'll investigate.
